Fiber Fed Solar Power

One way of transmitting solar power is through light fibers. Imagine conducting this concentrated light and heat energy to some distant point and then using it. The light you have gathered outdoors can be carried inside to perform heating or lighting, without the use of some fluid or heat carrying material. This system uses the same principle as laser surgery, conducting the energy over a light fiber.

The possibilities are amazing. Think of creating skylights without making a hole in the roof! You don't have the possibility of a leak, you don't have to hire a contractor to modify your home, you will not lose any insulation value from the hole a skylight would create.

Now think about carrying that light inside in a small light fiber bundle, and putting it in the living room, hallway, bathroom, closet, or even a basement! You can put sunlight anywhere you want it using fiber optics. Even windowless buildings can have plenty of light inside, without destroying the integrity of a solid concrete wall or ceiling. Perfect for lighting secure facilities or safe rooms. This is the ultimate in green lighting.

ADVANTAGES: You are not limited to the color of sunlight. You can choose to install dichroic or standard filtering to alter the color or mood at will. You can even choose wheel or remote control options so that your light fiber illumination can be any style you need. You can emulate the golden shades of a desert, the greenish hues of the leaves in a tropical forest or the blues of being underwater- including the ripples of the waves above. Imagine installing a blue skylight that even has white clouds moving through it. Now you can, and the light uses no electrical power at all.

How does it work? We use a single element Fresnel lens and a specially designed light fiber collector. The intensely concentrated light is collected by the fiber and conducted to the target location- that would be where ever you need light or heat.
Now picture an array of these collectors, and just imagine running light fibers where the light should be. Sconces, overhead lighting, cove lighting, spots for reading or plant growth... the only limit is your imagination!
