Phoenix Lander Returns Images from Martian Arctic

One of the earliest landscape images from Phoenix is presented here in the best false color we can construct given the data at hand.
If we can acquire some color frame data to work from, I will correct the color accordingly and present the images soon. Click the above image for a full sized view. "NASA COLOR" strikes again- note how the NASA image processors have reduced the contrast and turned everything into a pink haze? Even though we know that these are false color images, doesn't it make sense to get them to match as accurately as possible the true color and contrast of the area? The left image is from NASA, the right is my own assembly from their raw data. In the NASA image, ask yourself "what makes the shadowed sides of the rocks glow pink?"
