| Image of an orbiting solar power station - the array
will collect sunlight, convert it to electrical power, and
beam the energy to receivers on the ground. Subscribers
can be all over the world, and power can be sent to
locations where power wires cannot easily be run for
economic or environmental reasons.

| How hurricane control will work- three methods shown.
Cloud seeding removes material and therefore energy from the
storm's eyewall.
Biodegradable oil-based material would slow evaporation,
thus robbing the hurricane of energy and then allowing the
material to break down in a few days.
Orbital power stations could heat water vapor near the
sea surface, leading the hurricane out to sea and allowing
it to dissipate.
