A Gallery Of Fossil Images NASA data direct from their website, as well as my findings for comparison
I have assembled a number of large image maps from the raw microscopic data provided by Opportunity. Here is a listing by sol of the images that I have processed. Some are active images that allow you to click and select the features to examine. I have concentrated on data that more clearly shows fossil details, so not all sols will be processed. FORMAT: Each entry is labeled by sol. The NASA link is directly to the raw microscopic data for that sol on the NASA/JPL website. The second link will be to my data through an active image map. Those in bold are large image maps that may take time to download. Those in regular print are maps made directly from the NASA image or from a smaller version. What is an active image map? This is a picture that has "hot spots" that can be clicked like any other link. These image links will take to you a page that shows detailed information on the feature that you want to examine. Move your mouse over the image map and a web address or hyperlink will appear when you pass over an active element. NOTE: I am upgrading the pages by marking hotspots in red. Some users had difficulties finding the hotspots. I am also adding a small gallery of the cropped objects which can be clicked directly at the bottom of those pages. Compare these to terrestrial organisms. Because most people are not familiar with fossils or many of these organisms, I have included links in many of these records that connect directly to images and data about the fossils or their nearest equivalent. Click those links to see what we have on Earth that matches the fossil in question. Some images have 3D views. There are three formats of 3D views on this page. Some are "depth" viewed, like the random dot stereogram posters. Others are "cross eyed" views where the size of the image will not permit depth viewing. Some images were taken at two or more angles and I have fused them into stereo anaglyphs, where you can view them using red/blue glasses with red being over the left eye.
