Opportunity Sol 012 Microscopic Imager An image map for various processed features
This is the same image location that was used on Sol 010. This image map was assembled from NASA/JPL data from Sol 012. The only difference is that it was compressed using a tool on the rover arm. The result is indicative of damp soil. This can be see in how the soil clumped into solid clods when it was displaced.
This is a cross-eyed stereo pair showing the clumping of damp soil from Sol 010 and Sol 012. The ovoid rock in the center is the place to look for the clearest image of the clumped soil. A lens-shaped clod has raised up after being compressed by the rover arm. This indicates that the soil is presently damp. |
