Summary description of image contents: a sea urchin fossil displaying a symmetrical curly feature that is identical to the features of a terrestrial urchin Salmacis sphaeroides. Looking at the faint lines, it also shows lobes and segments absolutely identical to those of the terrestrial urchin, all radiating from a point at the top of center of the fossil.
Stereo view: I am including two stereo views- one is upright, the other is rotated 90° to the left.
| This is a traditional
stereo view from the raw image data. No enhancements or image
processing methods were applied to this data.
The two images are from two different sols, Sol 028 (left image) and Sol 029 (right image). |

| This stereo pair was
assembled from two views on Sol 029. Each was taken at a different
altitude in the frame (a height axis offset).
The only way to create a stereo pair in this case is to rotate the images and stack them side by side. In this image, you can see the radial lines and rows of bumps a little more clearly. |
